💡 Quick answer: Levante is busier, livelier and better for people-watching. Poniente is quieter, wider and better for families. Both are excellent — you can walk between them in 20 minutes.
🏖️ Levante Beach (East)
Benidorm's most famous beach. Lines of hotels and high-rises frame the backdrop. Lively beach bars, water sports and the heart of the tourist scene. The shallow, calm water makes it ideal for children.
- Length: 2 km of golden sand
- Full facilities: loungers, showers, bars
- Water sports: jet skis, parasailing, pedalos
- Atmosphere: Lively, social, family-friendly
- Best for: First-time visitors, couples, families
🏖️ Poniente Beach (West)
Slightly longer and generally quieter than Levante. Popular with Spanish families and those seeking a calmer atmosphere. The backing of the Sierra Helada natural park gives it a greener, more sheltered feel.
- Length: 2.5 km of fine sand
- Full facilities: loungers, showers, bars
- Water sports: available but calmer offer
- Atmosphere: Relaxed, quieter, more local
- Best for: Families with young children, relaxation
Playa de Mal Pas — The Secret Beach
Most tourists never find this small, rocky cove north of Levante beach, near the old town headland. No sunbeds, no bars — just clear water and locals. A 10-minute walk from Levante.
